The Sluggard!

from Consider God's Critters! by Judy Rogers

lyrics

The Sluggard – capo 3G – Proverbs 6:6, 9, 22:13-14, 26:13
1) The sluggard is just like the slug—
And if you ask why, he will shrug –
But we know it’s true for it always appears
It takes him forever to get there from here!
2) Yes, the sluggard is so like the slug—
Melodramatic & smug –
He’ll say, “I can’t help it! I really am tired –
And by the way, yesterday, was such an awful day,
I got to work too late and --- I was FIRED!!

Chorus: Sluggards do EVERYTHING -- if they do ANYTHING--
Very lazily, quite lackadaisically!!
They make excuses for all they can’t do- Blame it on this or that –blame it on me and on YOU!!
Bridge: “Just let me sleep,” is the song of the sluggard!
“I’ll be snug as a bug in a rug! Let me sleep…zzzz”

So he turns on his bed and believes his own lie,
“There’s a lion in the street so I can’t go outside!”
But when it comes harvest time he can’t believe
That his garden is covered & smothered with weeds!

2) Yes, the sluggard is so like the slug—
Melodramatic & smug –
He’ll say, “I can’t help it! I really am tired –
And by the way, yesterday, was such an AWFUL day,
I got to work too late and --- I was FIRED!!
(Repeat Chorus & Bridge )
